On one of Thom’s many European travels, this plein air city scene was painted in the country setting of Belgium.  Brussels encompasses three types of communities: the French, the Flemish and the Germans.  Thom said, “There are some effects that you can’t quite capture, even when you paint on the spot. The delicious smell of Belgian waffles filled the air as I paint this bustling street scene in Brussels.  If you can sense the aroma, then I've succeeded beyond all expectations.”
