This piece brings back memories of a time Thom and Nanette heard that east of Placerville had an unusual out of season snowfall. He and Nanette went to Placerville and hiked up the American River. Thom recounted that the “trees along the stream flamed red and gold in their final blaze of fall color; the new-fallen snow still clung to them, adding winter’s glistening white to the glory of autumn.” Although Thom painted this piece many years after that memorable snowfall, he said, “its meaning has deepened for me as I pass through the seasons of my own life.” This painting was released in canvas only piece.
