During my travels, I often wander about, keeping an eye out for new scenes to sketch and paint.  On one of my journeys,  I was walking through a village park enjoying the splendor of springtime.  Everything had come to life again in a joyous display of colors and fragrances.  This work, as Thom said, personifies “spring and its new beginnings” with its flowers and dogwood trees.  The dogwoods in this work symbolize the Easter holiday and the type of wood traditionally associated with the cross on which Jesus was crucified.  This painting is the first in the series.
